Fire Truck Service Course For Hale & Class 1 A Success

Last week, we were pleased to host an emergency vehicle service course in partnership with Class 1 and Hale. The event was held April 3rd and 4th, and free to Bulldog Fire & Emergency Apparatus customers. Over twelve fire departments were represented, with an attendance of 39 students.

Chuck Hutchens spoke on behalf of Class 1. His session was very educational and informative, covering the Es-Key power management system. The Es-Key is a multiplexing system often found on fire trucks. Chuck brought along with him eight cases full of electrical equipment display boards in simulators. As he went through his PowerPoint presentation, the class was able to see what he was talking about on the real-world simulators. Very cool!

Rick Tull joined us from Hale to talk about Hale firefighting pumps. His session included a PowerPoint overview, as well as hands-on training. During the hands-on portion, students were given the opportunity to take down a gear case unit and rebuild it. He also brought along a wide variety of equipment that included full-scale pumps and gear cases. The amount of equipment alone was impressive!

Both presenters went above and beyond, leaving students excited about the new service information they learned. There wasn’t anyone in attendance that didn’t feel their time was extremely well spent. We are truly appreciative of these vendors for taking the time to join us and our customers for a wonderful day of learning.

In our effort to continually educate our emergency vehicle customers, we are already looking forward to our next service course. We are working on an event presented in conjunction with Kussmaul Electronics, which will be held in June 2013. More details will be posted to our blog and Facebook page as they are confirmed… so stay tuned!
